Introducing FinchKeep

We built FinchKeep because doing the books shouldn't feel like a second job. Freelancers juggling Stripe and PayPal payments, landlords with a few rentals, tradies who'd rather be on the tools than reconciling receipts after dinner. That's who this is for.

Most accounting software in NZ was built for accountants first, everyone else second. You can feel it in the price, the clunky interface, and how many clicks it takes to get from "here's a transaction" to "done."

What's actually live today

We'd rather under-promise than ship a feature list full of stuff that's still half-baked. So here's what you can actually use right now.

Auto-Reconciliation. Add a transaction by hand, or have it come through the API, and FinchKeep matches it the second it turns up in your bank feed. No review queue to wade through, no double entries to clean up later.

Pattern Auto-Create. It learns from how you reconcile. No rules to set up, no keyword lists to maintain. Once it's confident about a regular vendor (a Stripe payout, a Visa transfer, whatever's routine for your business) the next one gets booked automatically the moment it lands in your feed.

Import Rollback. Imported the wrong statement, or the same one twice? You can roll it back properly, including anything that got auto-created off the back of it. Not just the raw import.

Dark mode. Sounds small, but it's 2026 and plenty of accounting software still doesn't have it.

Install it anywhere. FinchKeep's a Progressive Web App, so you can add it to your home screen on iPhone, Android, or desktop straight from the browser. No app store, no waiting around for updates to get approved.

What we're not going to pretend we've built

Multi-currency isn't in there. Most NZ small businesses don't need it, and we'd rather nail what we've got than spread ourselves thin chasing feature parity for its own sake. Full offline support is on the list too, but it's not there yet. You'll need a connection for now, same as most tools in this space.

If something's not built, we'll just tell you it's not built. Simple as that.

GST handling, NZ bank feeds, and a financial year that defaults to April because that's actually how it works here. Not bolted on as an afterthought from a product built somewhere else.
